patience, better eating habits, motivation, sanity...Jaimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17357485570837155254noreply@blogger.comBlogger187125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6510429981152237651.post-72365082900315007382015-02-27T07:00:00.000-05:002015-02-27T07:00:08.132-05:00First week of T25... oh, the pain.I completed my first week of <a href="http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/focus-t25-workout.do?e=374715">Focus T25</a> a few days ago. I'm proud that I did each workout each day... and I'm glad it didn't kill me.<br />
<br />
I have been working out for almost 2 months. I was using the elliptical and rowing machine several times a week to get in my cardio. And I'm not totally out of shape.<br />
<br />
But this... this is intense.<br />
<br />
T25, Alpha Cycle (total of 5 weeks)<br />
Week 1:<br />
<br />
<u>Day 1: Cardio DVD</u><br />
Good lord, what a way to start! My heart rate shot up and my sweat started pouring just in the first 3 minutes! Shaun T wasn't kidding when he said it was intense.<br />
~~ I did have to follow Tania (the modifier) a little bit and I didn't feel bad about it. LOL. Like I said, I'm not totally out of shape but when your are moving like that for a constant 25 minutes, anyone is going to feel knocked down at the end.<br />
~~ There is no jumping involved like with Insanity and if you follow Tania, your feet really won't leave the ground which is great of you have ankle, knee, or back problems. Or if your boobs are too large, which was my problem. I could have done some of the hopping if I had strapped my chest down with duct tape.<br />
<br />
<u>Day 2: Speed 1.0 DVD</u><br />
As it suggests on the title of this one, it's all about going balls to the wall. And from doing standing mountain climbers the day before, my arms were screaming at me. I was actually worried I wouldn't be able to do the workout. Well, 1 minute in and I forgot about my arms. My heart rate shot up and I didn't feel any soreness during the workout.<br />
~~ Again, I followed Tania quite a bit... except during the yoga type poses. My balance is great, it seems.<br />
~~ My husband was in the room for this one, checking it out. I wanted to find out how many calories I was burning during the 25 minutes so I strapped on my Polar HRM.<br />
~~ Sadly, my soreness was not all I forgot. My dumb butt forgot to hit START on the watch and I didn't realize it until there was only 8 minutes left in the workout. I was pissed. And did I quit? NO. Did I finish? NO. I started that whole damn thing over again. (Call me crazy but I wanted the info from the HRM.)<br />
~~ Since I started it over, my husband decided to try it out with me. He told me after that he was having a hell of a time keeping up since he really doesn't work out at all. He also said he has no rhythm. LOL.<br />
~~ In that second workout (doing the whole thing), I burned about 400 calories. In 25 minutes. I have NEVER burned that much in the same amount of time on the elliptical.<br />
<br />
<u>Day 3: Total Body Circuit DVD</u><br />
Arghhhh! The planks! He was making me do planks. A LOT OF PLANKING. And push-ups. Then again, the time spent doing push-ups helped me forget that my calves were on FIRE from the previous day's workout. That's right... I did make myself get up on my toes and hop and my calves yelled at me the entire next day.<br />
~~ Yep, you guessed it. I was still following Tania most of the time. Especially during the 'tap shoulder/push-up'. Yikes.<br />
~ My goal by the end of this is to be able to do more moves without modifying. I know that the stronger my legs get, the more I'll be able to do without modifying.<br />
<br />
<u>Day 4: Ab Interval DVD</u><br />
Holy hell. That is a little bit more intense than I usually do on my own with just varying crunches. Ouch. Staying in a 'V' position on the floor really puts the focus and strain on your abs.<br />
~~ Oh, yeah. I was modifying it up! Even with the modifier, my abs were being pushed hard core.<br />
<br />
<u>Day 5: Lower Focus</u><br />
I am pretty sure that my quads, if at all possible, would have jumped out of my body during this workout and stabbed me repeatedly. That way, I'd feel their pain exactly.<br />
~~ Thank god Tania is there to show you the modifier.<br />
~~ Sadly, I did have to back off and release a few times due the pain/strain that I was feeling, mainly in those stabby quads. I'm am ever hopeful and optimistic that over time, I'll get better at those moves. (Although the grunting noises coming from the crew on the DVD tells me that you never truly 'get used to it'.<br />
<br />
I didn't do the Double Day Friday. After doing Lower Focus, I was focused on staying alive so I didn't throw in the Cardio DVD again. Let's build up to that, shall we? <br />
<br />
<br />
I survived my first week of T25 and I felt great because I did keep pushing myself and didn't quit. I am hopeful that if I stick with this and make sure I eat enough food that I will see some body changes soon. I've been making more of an effort to eat less fast food and making sure I get enough protein and carbs.<br />
<br />
<br />
Wish me luck as I start the 2nd week!<br />
<br />

And workout.<i>For a more in-depth explanation of my history with eating and exercise, read <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2013/03/undereating-to-overeating-trying-to.html">this</a> and <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2013/03/my-history-with-food-and-exercise.html">this</a>. </i><br />
<br />
<b><u><i>Weight loss</i></u></b>.<br />
Those two words plague so many people all over the world. It's one of the hardest things to achieve depending on who you are and how you live your life.<br />
<br />
Even though most of us want to be fit and healthy, it's usually so much easier to just let it go. Staying on track with our meals, finding the time to do our workouts, and making ourselves NOT skip workout days even when we have time is normally why so many people fail at weight loss.<br />
I'm one of them.<br />
<br />
Hi, my name is Jaime and I have never been the 'gym bunny' or 'healthy eater'.<br />
<br />
I like fast food. I love my Cherry Cokes. But I also love chicken. I love salmon. I love broccoli. And lord help me, I love Domino's pizza.<br />
<br />
But even though I like junk food, it's not my problem when it comes to my diet. If I ate junk 3-4 times a day for meals, my weight would be higher. <br />
<br />
See, I'm an under-eater. For years, I have subsisted on 2 meals a day, sometimes 3. My body went into storage mode a long time ago because I wasn't eating enough. So it's really frustrating when almost all of the diets, workout programs, and websites tell you that the key to losing weight it to workout and eat less.<br />
If I ate any less, I'd be dead.<br />
<br />
I still have yet to stumble across a website geared towards people who eat too little.... unless it's a website dedicated to anorexia. And I'm not anorexic. When I don't eat breakfast, I don't get hungry. (I know, it's weird.) Sometime later in the afternoon, I realize I haven't eaten all day.<br />
<br />
For years, eating fast food and pizza is probably the only thing that was keeping me going... the calories and fat content may have been awful but it was enough to keep my body from shutting down.<br />
<br />
Back in 2011 when I was working out religiously, a month or so in my weight loss stalled a little. I went from doing cardio 6 days a week to lifting weights. After asking around on Spark People, I started eating a little more each day. Lifting weights requires a lot more calories to build muscle and sustain that muscle. <br />
<br />
Can you see where this is headed? I'm back on the wagon again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy6rlxy2puDo-VkJTZTSPpjK88Bt6pUusEbHyww3cxCXY-DNIv1RIx8MwY_7yR23AvswUeUsUwDXiCS-CET7dZnF1eIiRrMxnVYW-4wCGRTwYsyxBFmiQ4NMeHpqhfWyRbX5ZRF3g_jFjo/s1600/fat+die.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy6rlxy2puDo-VkJTZTSPpjK88Bt6pUusEbHyww3cxCXY-DNIv1RIx8MwY_7yR23AvswUeUsUwDXiCS-CET7dZnF1eIiRrMxnVYW-4wCGRTwYsyxBFmiQ4NMeHpqhfWyRbX5ZRF3g_jFjo/s1600/fat+die.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Right before New Years, I got off my butt and started doing cardio again, using the elliptical and rowing machine. A week later, I started lifting weights and doing less cardio. My arms started getting stronger and you can actually see some definition. And when I sucked it up and added squats and lunges (my most hated workout moves) to my workouts, I started seeing a change in my rear. YES! Me, who suffers from No-ass-atall. I had to get my husband to confirm because I thought I was imagining it. NOPE! There is actually definition back there, for the first time I can ever recall.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizYCVzLWDgm3Q1nI11awY0FSLp23hU7zu8cSu0hkZG2girJyIyiIYOWOPDiIUkGRr-mhR7CHMpKJQ8ZCmM6DW9NBuh5K5f9hBovezfvT9bc1JF62xRnUS9N2TWmP82nREJ-2CcWRL24NPt/s1600/c05a86164d5a5b298d69b047dd17738b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizYCVzLWDgm3Q1nI11awY0FSLp23hU7zu8cSu0hkZG2girJyIyiIYOWOPDiIUkGRr-mhR7CHMpKJQ8ZCmM6DW9NBuh5K5f9hBovezfvT9bc1JF62xRnUS9N2TWmP82nREJ-2CcWRL24NPt/s1600/c05a86164d5a5b298d69b047dd17738b.jpg" height="307" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's been almost 2 months and while my face has thinned out, my rear has started changing, and my thighs have actually gotten smaller.... my stomach and chest have not moved. (My shock was not limited to the rear... my thighs are usually stubborn as hell. Thank you, squats and lunges.) <i>I don't use a scale anymore. I take measurements. Using a scale while building muscle will make you crazy. Muscle weighs more so the scale can actually go UP.</i><br />
<br />
So my husband started looking around for an ACCURATE website generator that could tell me what I SHOULD be eating a day. (Hint: the more info about your body it wants... the better. If it asks for only weight and height, skip it. It should factor in workouts/intensity, weight, height, body fat percentage (BMI), whether you want to lose/gain/maintain your current weight.)<br />
<br />
Holy crap. 2000 calories? Really? That's astounding to me and really hard to achieve right off the bat. But it explains why I'm not overall losing stored fat. I have been eating more than usual but still not eating enough. I swear... damned if I do, damned if I don't. Based off a previous inquiry about this, I went off a number closer to 1800. That's what it should be if I'm NOT working out.<br />
<br />
Well, I'm working out. A lot. Up until last week, I was lifting weights and doing cardio 6 days a week.<br />
<br />
I say up until last week because I've decided to do a cardio program that I purchased over a year ago and never got around to. (Seriously... it was still in the box.)<br />
<br />
Yes, I'm beginning a relationship with Shaun T and the workout program Focus T25. All of the reviews that I've read about it say it's an intense cardio program... not meandering for up to an hour on the treadmill or elliptical. Hours of cardio have been shown to actually help you lose fat... and lots of lean muscle. Most workout buffs will tell you that lifting weights is much better for you. Adding lean muscle will burn more fat. A good lifting workout can burn calories for up to 24 hours after your workout while cardio burn lasts maybe 2-3.<br />
<br />
T25 is not a meandering cardio program. People say it's easier than Insanity and P90X but it's a butt-kicking, fat burning program. Instead of doing cardio for an hour, you smash it all into an intense 25 minutes. It's supposed to really burn through fat and kick your metabolism into high gear.<br />
<br />
We will see.<br />
<br />
I will have an update after the first week.<br />
<br />
Until then, I need to go figure out to eat 2000 calories a day and not be a slug. <br />
<br />

You see blog posts, FB posts, hell... even movies about all of the things people want to do before they kick the bucket.<br />
<br />
Personally, I have never had one. I guess in a way I have things I want to do but never really thought about putting it down on a list... or lumping everything together to make a list.<br />
Well, that has changed.<br />
<br />
Add me to the long list of people with lists.<br />
<br />
I think it's coming up now due to my husband and I having long talks all the time about what all we want to do in the future. Shows that we watch, articles that we read... a lot of that stuff makes us sit and talk for hours about all that is out there for us to do before we die.<br />
<br />
So, here's my bucket list. I'll add to it over time, I'm sure.<br />
I will mark things off over time, I'm positive.<br />
<u><br /></u>
1) <u><i>See the <a href="http://news.discovery.com/space/history-of-space/aurora-northern-lights-space-phenomena.htm">Aurora Borealis</a> in person</i></u>.<br />
Not in photos. Not in a video.<br />
I want to stand in Alaska, look up at the sky, and have my jaw drop and my mind be blown.<br />
People that have experienced the lights in the sky in person say it's an experience that you'll never forget. The lights dance across the sky and make you realize that there is so much going on in the sky and beyond.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMw5LSn_cLmM-_zVJhcKpO9T9kn7k8sjC-x34Z6XiHo6SmhJxteciHptq8dDCI_thVPTDG7PNFjbMU0ZaOOeSErWPTxt5BGNUZ-lQO27G5jigY1Y-WXAwnqy1cVFLOv0cjJIzCXEk_gbUO/s1600/d67294e559eba7ebe52ef37c6d2d5bf2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMw5LSn_cLmM-_zVJhcKpO9T9kn7k8sjC-x34Z6XiHo6SmhJxteciHptq8dDCI_thVPTDG7PNFjbMU0ZaOOeSErWPTxt5BGNUZ-lQO27G5jigY1Y-WXAwnqy1cVFLOv0cjJIzCXEk_gbUO/s1600/d67294e559eba7ebe52ef37c6d2d5bf2.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
2) <i><u>Drive Route 66</u></i>.<br />
Yes, most of it still exists. It's a huge part of American History and they say the drive and the places you encounter along the way are fantastic and memorable. The route starts in Chicago and ends in LA, or in reverse depending on where you start.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNesJV_bePoCEggACK0YBImSJUr3uq_l1b-ogspqe9TL6kraV5o3BvF8sZpk5F6L9QfonDGRWT2OzNbbq9dyHh91z2cULI8-dKn3xD5nCMOTbvnFTpJZfN28SEhP0dtFzcem74GFOcA2I1/s1600/highway-route66-cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNesJV_bePoCEggACK0YBImSJUr3uq_l1b-ogspqe9TL6kraV5o3BvF8sZpk5F6L9QfonDGRWT2OzNbbq9dyHh91z2cULI8-dKn3xD5nCMOTbvnFTpJZfN28SEhP0dtFzcem74GFOcA2I1/s1600/highway-route66-cover.jpg" height="197" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
3) <i><u>Hire a genealogist to finally trace my family roots</u></i>.<br />
I have traced my family as far as I can go on my own. With my mother's side of the family, I can trace her mother's side to right about they time they came into the country from Scotland, Ireland, and England. Her father's side? Not so much. I cannot find anything to beyond his name.<br />
My father's side is just as perplexing. I can trace my grandfather's family for a few generations but then got totally stuck. My grandmother on that side? Nope. Cannot move beyond her.<br />
I want to know about my ancestry and where they all came from.<br />
<br />
<br />
4) <u><i>After tracing my family to their countries of origin, I want to visit those places</i></u>.<br />
I'm certain that on my mom's side (her mother's side), the family came from parts of Ireland and Scotland. I would LOVE to go there and see where my family came from.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNB7v-crnha1Z_7ZhMhCtHO80rdSNjXf70qcc0TgR9eBffMNw9BdpCEUd9gWhR8SDgEX-2E2mJjlbJNGOkx2_Mv6vsXyg2tkdG5QOPIKZhmOX3VPds_OB-ja4Gy6R980Qynwbif_SPuXE-/s1600/54e3d60a536842639bb3d9d8edba9b598J3OAm1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNB7v-crnha1Z_7ZhMhCtHO80rdSNjXf70qcc0TgR9eBffMNw9BdpCEUd9gWhR8SDgEX-2E2mJjlbJNGOkx2_Mv6vsXyg2tkdG5QOPIKZhmOX3VPds_OB-ja4Gy6R980Qynwbif_SPuXE-/s1600/54e3d60a536842639bb3d9d8edba9b598J3OAm1.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
5) <u><i>Visit all 50 states</i></u>.<br />
I do believe that I am over halfway there. For future reference for myself, I'll list them here and update the list as I can.<br />
Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin.<br />
That's 28 total. Only 22 more to go to get all 50 visited.<br />
(If I can get that Route 66 trip done in the next year, I can add California, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. Seeing the Aurora Borealis in person will take care of Alaska. Hawaii will take a little more planning.... and money.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvBMHmLC9f4IBz5POumZraXzQFDYoHfzLD2nq2hm6O6g69h6SglKSF-PBwM3mRlMul0CEWVFDD_cax5KkjK5TCPSTFflyNRIuUxae_UvEhpEOZ-bbtamcCi70zTDbxsbXtG6OCM5twDsXb/s1600/united-states-of-america-stylized-text-map-colorful.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvBMHmLC9f4IBz5POumZraXzQFDYoHfzLD2nq2hm6O6g69h6SglKSF-PBwM3mRlMul0CEWVFDD_cax5KkjK5TCPSTFflyNRIuUxae_UvEhpEOZ-bbtamcCi70zTDbxsbXtG6OCM5twDsXb/s1600/united-states-of-america-stylized-text-map-colorful.jpg" height="273" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
6) <u><i>Drive all of the routes listed on <a href="http://www.roadtripusa.com/routes.html">Road Trip USA</a></i></u>.<br />
Go take a look at the routes. If we take a family trip once a year and drives these routes, my kids will be able to say they have been to all 48 contiguous states. Hell, they already have quite a few under their belts due to the fact that we prefer to drive instead of fly. You just cannot see the country the same way from sitting thousands of miles above it in a plane looking out of a tiny window. I am positive that we will see all sorts of interesting and memorable things making these trips. Only when driving through the states do you realize there is an authentic Danish windmill in Elk Horn, Iowa. Yeah, we've been there. We saw a sign for it and decided to check it out. You cannot do that on a plane.<br />
(Plus, my design ideas for my jewelry displays for markets and fairs involves collecting stickers from each place visited.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjePrXuXatgbey4XgoFe-tJ0W1GSuOcowJVJ4taVJaQYtXwtqVFrt-cZ6JgayvmnLN3y7SLjsdtv_gq5sy4IAl-BxKyQoLlAVyApucIZi4ceH1E5ziNXJ8WImKwNBWfkDsArRNhZPUtujEi/s1600/RoadTrip_webmap.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjePrXuXatgbey4XgoFe-tJ0W1GSuOcowJVJ4taVJaQYtXwtqVFrt-cZ6JgayvmnLN3y7SLjsdtv_gq5sy4IAl-BxKyQoLlAVyApucIZi4ceH1E5ziNXJ8WImKwNBWfkDsArRNhZPUtujEi/s1600/RoadTrip_webmap.jpg" height="293" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
7) <u><i>Visit other countries</i></u>.<br />
I figure getting the 50 states down first makes more sense and might be easier since most of the states connect to one another. I do think you should explore the country you live in as much as possible before exploring others. But that's me.<br />
Countries I'm interested in visiting (the ones I can think of right now):<br />
Norway, Switzerland, Italy, France, Australia, Japan, China, Iceland, Belgium, Germany<br />
<br />
<br />
As I stated above, I'm sure this list will grow. And I am certain that over time, things will be marked off. It seems that the majority of my list involves traveling. I don't like being in one place too long. I get tired of staring at the same walls, the same scenery all of the time.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>How about it? Do you have a list?</i><br />
<br />

No worries... you can read it <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2015/01/shows-you-should-be-watching.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Okay, now that you've caught up, here are a few more shows that I cannot live without and I think you SHOULD be watching.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>RIZZOLI AND ISLES:</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><u>TNT: Returning Tuesday, February 17th, 9pm EST</u></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/yRz-r_OODZs/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/yRz-r_OODZs&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/yRz-r_OODZs&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you haven't heard of this show, I'm so sorry. It's a great one. Yes, it's going into Season 6 but you can catch up! That's what the internet is for, right?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This show is about Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Medical Examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander). They solve crimes and are BFF's although they are so different. Jane was raised with 2 brothers in the streets of Boston and LOVES baseball. Maura is like a walking encyclopedia... smart as hell but not totally socially ignorant like Brennan on <i>Bones</i>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The writing is great... so many great lines. And these ladies are gorgeous. And I've been in love with Angie Harmon's voice for YEARS.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>TREEHOUSE MASTERS:</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><u>Animal Planet: Fridays at 10pm EST</u></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/Xf581T7-8-E?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I will admit with pride.... I grew up wishing I had a treehouse. And back then, I was just picturing a few planks of wood in a tree. When I found this show, my jaw hit the floor and my inner child went WILD thinking about playing in these kinds of treehouses. These are literally little houses, in trees. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms.... my dream! Makes me wish we had trees around our house.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Pete Nelson is the Treehouse Man. He is a happy, giddy, crazy sort of guy that you can tell LOVES his work. He runs a bed and breakfast with his wife in Washington (weddings allowed, no kids) and all of the rooms are in the TREES!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He has a team of builders that roam the country with him making dreams come true for people with budgets large enough to put a house in the trees. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The crew is entertaining and the treehouses are really awe-inspiring. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Watching the show, you see sites such as:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>FOREVER:</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><u>ABC: Tuesdays at 10pm EST</u></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Meet Doctor Henry Morgan, the star Medical Examiner in NYC. Henry is not like other doctors of death. He's immortal... no not a vampire. Over 200 years ago, he died and then came back. He doesn't age but has to watch everyone in his life die over time. By trying to understand his immortal curse, he has learned more about death than most doctors could hope to learn in a normal lifetime.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Henry partners up with Detective Jo Martinez, who does NOT know his secret.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He reminds me of a British Patrick Jane from <i>The Mentalist</i>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If you aren't watching this show, you should be. It's smart, warm, and funny. And when you figure out how Henry knows Abe (Judd Hirsch), you might need a tissue. (Nope, no spoilers.)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQTMcdEMfvBoCMpv9whkn0CccLzEr_B7AuACLMA3cOyv950KqQwOML38e3IDazi9gcDMZQ4TCx7zQhdB30UDNcUE7z7KhLVvJb1G0gBlx_-ysbSOt05EiGiP1aLtu5gvQwPPlWgMzw706N/s1600/Forever_(U.S._TV_series)_Title_Card.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQTMcdEMfvBoCMpv9whkn0CccLzEr_B7AuACLMA3cOyv950KqQwOML38e3IDazi9gcDMZQ4TCx7zQhdB30UDNcUE7z7KhLVvJb1G0gBlx_-ysbSOt05EiGiP1aLtu5gvQwPPlWgMzw706N/s1600/Forever_(U.S._TV_series)_Title_Card.png" height="223" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love this opening title graphic. I pointed out to my husband that I <i>think</i> it shows NYC throughout the last 200 years... every century Henry has ended up in New York. I could be wrong but look at it... on the left, low buildings and plain.... it changes as you look to the right. Neat.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's it for today, folks. I hope you at least give a few of these shows a chance.</div>

Some shows make me want to run screaming from the planet just by having to see their commercials. (At least they canceled Honey Boo Boo, right?)<br />
<br />
I've written a little in the past about my favorite shows. If you'd like to read it, click <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2013/09/theyre-coming-my-shows-are-coming.html">here</a>. Some shows are still on that list and some won't be talked about anymore because they aren't ON ANYMORE. Yes, I'm bitter. Just a bit.<br />
<br />
Let's start off with a newer show on USA Network, because I need to give you enough time to watch the NEW SEASON this Tuesday, January 27th!<br />
<i>If you don't like vulgar jokes and swear words, skip this first show, mmkay?</i><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>SIRENS</u>: </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><i>USA NETWORK: Tuesdays at 10pm EST, starting January 27th</i></u> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object width="320" height="266" class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="https://ytimg.googleusercontent.com/vi/Bg_ivHXZeGk/0.jpg"><param name="movie" value="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/Bg_ivHXZeGk&source=uds" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="https://youtube.googleapis.com/v/Bg_ivHXZeGk&source=uds" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<i><br /></i>
My husband and I saw previews for this last year and it looked decently funny. We set the DVR to record and when we watched it, we were dying. See, it's vulgar. But it's smart vulgar. Hell, it's spurred by none other than Dennis Leary.<br />
It's about EMT's and the crap they see a day on the job. <i>(Castle</i> fans may recognize one of the stars since Michael Mosley is none other than Jerry Tyson, 3XK.)<br />
<br />
It's on later at night so they allow some hellacious swear words, which I don't have an issue with at all. Some of the topics on the show may make some pearl clutching ladies blush but I love it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>ELEMENTARY</u>:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><u>CBS: Thursdays at10pm EST</u></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/MpC9jxnfaqA?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I am so in love with this show! Jonny Lee Miller does a hell of a job bringing Sherlock Holmes into modern day. And even though for years I was not a fan or hater of Lucy Lui, I am loving her as Watson. The show is smart, brings in characters from the Sherlock Holmes stories, and it's got a catchy little tune for an intro.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Alaska: The Last Frontier</u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u><i>Discovery Channel: Sundays at 9pm EST</i></u></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/iymMZa6LuHI?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Warning!!! If you are against killing animals for food/survival, don't watch the show. </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I stumbled upon the show one night in a hotel room in Paducah, KY on a trip to TN.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The Kilcher family lives on a homestead in Alaska. There are 4 generations living on this homestead now and the shows follows them throughout spring, summer, and fall and captures the hell they go through to procure enough meat, veggies, and everything else they need to survive 8-9 long months of Alaskan winters.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the 1930's, Yule Kilcher and his wife moved to Alaska from Switzerland. They carved out a homestead and proceeded to raise a family. They had 8 children, 2 of whom are a feature on the show. The two main people featured on the show are Atz and Otto Kilcher, sons of Yule and Ruth. Atz's 3 sons (Shane, Atz Lee, and Nikkos) are now on the show on any given night. Atz Lee's wife Jane, Shane's wife Kelli, and Atz's wife Bonnie are also featured and you see what it's like living on the homestead from a female perspective.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Otto is married to Charlotte and their son August is on the show sometimes. (Interestingly, Charlotte is a vegetarian and lives in an area where you really cannot afford to be against eating meat.) </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
From a previous marriage, Otto's son Eivin is also on the show along with his wife Eve. They now have a baby and he is PRECIOUS.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have learned more about Alaska and what it must have been like living in the Pioneer Days from watching this show. It's great. I would love to have the will and get up and go to live that life. Even though they bust their asses procuring food and supplies each year, they have a far more laid back life.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I didn't know until after watching it, but there is a member of the Kilcher family that EVERYONE reading this has seen and heard before and you probably don't make the association.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Jewel? Sweet little, yodeling Jewel? Yeah. She's the only daughter of Atz Kilcher, sister to Shane, Atz Lee and Nikkos, and niece to Otto. Don't believe that could be so? <a href="http://www.jeweljk.com/about.html">Read this</a>.</div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
That's all I have today. I will surely be making a part 2 because lord knows I have more than 3 shows.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Hey, a girl can hope, right?<br />
<br />
Here are the things I wish we'd see less of this year, in not particular order:<br />
<br />
<b>1) <u>Selfies</u></b>- Even the word 'selfie' makes me stabby. First off... when did humans decide that everyone on their friend list, every follower, family, in-real-life friends, etc wanted to see nothing but their face? Have you looked around outside lately? The world around us may have problems but it's still pretty beautiful.<br />
<br />
We just got through the busiest 'family time' of the year. All over the country, families and friends were gathering to celebrate the holidays and eat... a lot. Yet I swear I saw more 'selfies' than family photos. At times, I wondered if some people threw a celebration for themselves and their smartphone. Really.... never saw a single family member's face... just feet or an elbow in the background.<br />
<br />
This is so, so sad. What makes it worse is that most people take 10 or more pics at a time to get that ONE pic to post that makes them look a little bit more attractive. I know people that take nothing but 'selfies' and it's funny to see them in person.... they look nothing like their bazillion photos on Instagram. It's all a sham.<br />
And honestly, if I go to an Instagram account and see mostly selfies, that's a 'do not follow this person'. I want to see the world through the eyes of others... not constantly see the eyes of others. <br />
<br />
I'm not holding onto much hope that this trend will finally falter, not with crap like this hitting the shelves at your local beauty supply store:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ-0dSCw83lKH-1JUt5nwOjLo4sd8BzY5_SfL_K34wldRq-gjsO7XmwabPB5-k4fCYu3EzzWe1F6udR0I3GgTSxDZV22hs1UYf9_1uknC1Ddlnk4YS7dRUeU1creMcus1Js6PJ4Z9Gg69_/s1600/BrushSelfie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ-0dSCw83lKH-1JUt5nwOjLo4sd8BzY5_SfL_K34wldRq-gjsO7XmwabPB5-k4fCYu3EzzWe1F6udR0I3GgTSxDZV22hs1UYf9_1uknC1Ddlnk4YS7dRUeU1creMcus1Js6PJ4Z9Gg69_/s1600/BrushSelfie.jpg" height="640" width="528" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>2) <u>Activia commercials</u>:</b> You know, I don't care about your irregularity. I don't care about what happens to your tummy or bowels once you eat a fattening meal. From what I've heard from people that have tried it, it only works for certain people with certain issues.. On the plus side, at least Jamie Lee Curtis isn't in the commercials anymore. I couldn't stand her smarmy attitude anymore.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDpTXnpFNz4gs3sLRo2rIQEoAMFyUH3SANhE3o1LU8UZTEZED-MwfCw8wOermrYanuoGxiksaz86Ajf1O3GMl4K0gh-F2zKLuJM3WT7MRDJ1ijjnojL-dSk4k5I2OIti2kP34R2NVzvHvh/s1600/commercials709-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDpTXnpFNz4gs3sLRo2rIQEoAMFyUH3SANhE3o1LU8UZTEZED-MwfCw8wOermrYanuoGxiksaz86Ajf1O3GMl4K0gh-F2zKLuJM3WT7MRDJ1ijjnojL-dSk4k5I2OIti2kP34R2NVzvHvh/s1600/commercials709-2.jpg" height="240" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b>3) <u>Wendy's commercials</u>:</b> Is it me or is that red-headed chick pretty fraking smarmy, too? How does this girl have ANY friends? She constantly makes her friends feel stupid and seems to revel in the fact that she has a better lunch. Then again, maybe she has a problem KEEPING friends. Each commercial features her... with a different group. Yeah, I'd kick her to the curb, too.<br />
And don't even get me started on the SINGING commercials; terrible singing and awful lyrics. Yuk.<br />
Maybe I'm biased anyway... not a fan of their food. I will take a Frosty, though.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5GRGU8fhjYhlcO9x0rXqjDPLLJ_qljngMdF6BgizUI4H6DvvkN3qVWSwAxACrwoHL3wiTytPy9hzs2aMOQFAnwSn7AV4notFsZlK5iutLGWkerrWYDF8fofQRFOitSrMB9jK_pgSGYK1/s1600/Wendy's.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc5GRGU8fhjYhlcO9x0rXqjDPLLJ_qljngMdF6BgizUI4H6DvvkN3qVWSwAxACrwoHL3wiTytPy9hzs2aMOQFAnwSn7AV4notFsZlK5iutLGWkerrWYDF8fofQRFOitSrMB9jK_pgSGYK1/s1600/Wendy's.jpg" height="364" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<b>4) <u>Jeggings</u>:</b> Dear God, make it stop. Have you seen the newest ones? <a href="http://genieslimjeggings.com/?gclid=Cj0KEQiAiamlBRCgj83PiYm6--gBEiQArnojD5INESYwXR1gwFkMIyaNDpSMJ7BWUbJ_DijRz_JW8cEaArdJ8P8HAQ">Genie Slim Jeggings</a>? Who they heck are they people fooling? "Get great fashion and style at a fraction of the cost of designer skinny jeans" Great fashion? According to.... the millions of women in the country that REFUSE to buy something this awful? I understand that designer jeans aren't cheap but come on... sometimes you get what you pay for. And the last I checked, designer jeans don't look like their trying to make their way up to your neck to wring it. No one will be fooled by these.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH01M5fykWxT44gSbjs94-ry253acYMucuKOO_n1fSDLejTBl5EpB4TF2ve1P9buZt1HHVLQpcJyTLpWRKJI3ySu90RR6xkxmWL72gRXXzBNnsYlg9oQC93t39nGDgW3W7cDfTseA_yF2P/s1600/Jeggings.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH01M5fykWxT44gSbjs94-ry253acYMucuKOO_n1fSDLejTBl5EpB4TF2ve1P9buZt1HHVLQpcJyTLpWRKJI3ySu90RR6xkxmWL72gRXXzBNnsYlg9oQC93t39nGDgW3W7cDfTseA_yF2P/s1600/Jeggings.JPG" height="320" width="269" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Yup, this is just part 1. Depending on my mood in the next few days, there could be many other parts to this post. For now... I have only one planned.<br />
<br />
Until then.... take pictures of the world, not yourself.<br />
<br />

I hope you all celebrated wonderfully and got home safely.<br />
<br />
We played it totally low key by staying home. I did up my nails to go with our "glowing New Years" theme. Since I knew that my precious neons from Pipe Dream Polish would <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/googly-eyes-and-stripes-mani.html">glow under a blacklight</a>, I knew that I wanted to have the black lights out for New Years. (I'll get to the mani in a minute.)<br />
<br />
So we found some neon plates and cups that reacted under the black lights and used glow paint from Spencer's to add a glow to the plastic trays and punch bowl we found at Party City.<br />
<br />
For the food, we went totally low-key. I made crescent pinwheels and mini chicken salad sandwiches for the 'main course'. We also had veggies: broccoli, baby carrots, and cherry tomatoes with veggie dip. (Yes, tomatoes are a fruit but for culinary reference and the dip they go with, they're veggies.) We also had strawberries and grapes with the best fruit dip in the world.<br />
<br />
And just to bring back great memories from being a kid, we had punch. Rainbow sherbet and Sprite mixed in a punch bowl. I love that stuff! It's been so long since I had it last.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what the spread looked like:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwESpDDWCANSLB92t5jNK0fxj9HZ25M6PNkaN3OgP9BXDH7S36GeVV56KzElcUaBDN_Mtuj1n2oorRMWsYUBXGbfw7sq3iE33ouKOMf_9pppgiouPO9ns4u4Nu_JPIyhubYnuxmQoH4wa-/s1600/IMG_1683.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwESpDDWCANSLB92t5jNK0fxj9HZ25M6PNkaN3OgP9BXDH7S36GeVV56KzElcUaBDN_Mtuj1n2oorRMWsYUBXGbfw7sq3iE33ouKOMf_9pppgiouPO9ns4u4Nu_JPIyhubYnuxmQoH4wa-/s1600/IMG_1683.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here's what it looked like with just the black lights on:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tCbHFpd8iT9ATH8yzCb3YXEgCBqQ2RBAy1UPWlZ_x-Dc3xZc7wdJs5S-g1pJRzUJ1JNkgNi_laHpx1CQV5FHT4Xj-ISkPYG5t-G_bdj7jvyhI4LpNZS16shOVBgKYB0pbTOMOn7t_4uE/s1600/IMG_1708.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tCbHFpd8iT9ATH8yzCb3YXEgCBqQ2RBAy1UPWlZ_x-Dc3xZc7wdJs5S-g1pJRzUJ1JNkgNi_laHpx1CQV5FHT4Xj-ISkPYG5t-G_bdj7jvyhI4LpNZS16shOVBgKYB0pbTOMOn7t_4uE/s1600/IMG_1708.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here's the mani that I did to ring in the New Year:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi35jrYQrYd9uzITXcGbv9GVNDD6F6fUNX9G9MiF6eNJ-xD_EJ9xahC9_VFXh52S3BtQcejjVqqcFFfTYN6u9XuTXCVaUcLddjSx_xeZemHOVwtMuqxQAcEKiC6S1zMilEH3x2sff-csuAI/s1600/New+Years+Not+GlowingWM+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi35jrYQrYd9uzITXcGbv9GVNDD6F6fUNX9G9MiF6eNJ-xD_EJ9xahC9_VFXh52S3BtQcejjVqqcFFfTYN6u9XuTXCVaUcLddjSx_xeZemHOVwtMuqxQAcEKiC6S1zMilEH3x2sff-csuAI/s1600/New+Years+Not+GlowingWM+-+Copy.JPG" height="478" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br />
The base is Blackout from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/justricarda">Rica</a>.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I used all of the neon cremes from the <a href="http://pipedreampolish.com/">Pipe Dream Polish</a> 'A Night in Vegas' collection.<br />
For the finishing, I used <a href="http://glistenandglow.bigcartel.com/">Glisten and Glow</a> HK Girl Top Coat.<br />
<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Doing splatter paint manicures is a lot of fun but it's messy as hell. Hopefully when I get my nail mail Friday, the mess on my hands will be a lot easier to deal with. I do have a picture of the mess under a black light and I'll get there in just a second.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But first, the mani above under a black light!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib1jZZGdJSOT9gvvx1HWG2oTimBpnSBp7hDkFILsPjNxbYrTTe6_j6t6jDrfxgBRlf_PJ9QFdMdfQFI32qfn-B-V9I0B_P8uuHVIeuV-1S_D8daflJp7bpeEq8P9oF1cUOHycWvkHgMJPz/s1600/New+Years+GlowingWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib1jZZGdJSOT9gvvx1HWG2oTimBpnSBp7hDkFILsPjNxbYrTTe6_j6t6jDrfxgBRlf_PJ9QFdMdfQFI32qfn-B-V9I0B_P8uuHVIeuV-1S_D8daflJp7bpeEq8P9oF1cUOHycWvkHgMJPz/s1600/New+Years+GlowingWM.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
How freaking cool is that? The colors look so different when they glow!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's interesting to see what actually glows under a black light. The polish on the far left? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Glisten and Glow HK Girl Top Coat. None of my other top coats glowed like that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4oIsdpHIi6s0mYbDrCcoFN4GEdO_HYFivaAVJWeBQDwIVBWU3HbNDR36MisO4Ez1dPFkm3sDaVrT8sVeUET6Wjj6u261uL4DsESMoYGVAFOuV5puy-YDhdCn03KzxrjMiljM-VdcNcG0D/s1600/It's+MessyWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4oIsdpHIi6s0mYbDrCcoFN4GEdO_HYFivaAVJWeBQDwIVBWU3HbNDR36MisO4Ez1dPFkm3sDaVrT8sVeUET6Wjj6u261uL4DsESMoYGVAFOuV5puy-YDhdCn03KzxrjMiljM-VdcNcG0D/s1600/It's%2BMessyWM.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It took me only a second after the last bit of clean-up to realize that it looked like I made my own nebula. It makes me want to take glow paint and take it outside and really do some splattering and make some art. Hahaha.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My Neon Nebula:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTPWJeggkJWdhXIOK7Pm5jEij4HRKPyHG2njM7AWi5KsM3uLOBUy8CgfQXpZ1Nun4BF_Pvj9wBVUZSHezX-fBE1Qvpo9rajYtcGJP97Q8KROpa1IrDOj-yLbDBZExgJNfSsEPnRVAO30tY/s1600/It's+a+Beautiful+MessWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTPWJeggkJWdhXIOK7Pm5jEij4HRKPyHG2njM7AWi5KsM3uLOBUy8CgfQXpZ1Nun4BF_Pvj9wBVUZSHezX-fBE1Qvpo9rajYtcGJP97Q8KROpa1IrDOj-yLbDBZExgJNfSsEPnRVAO30tY/s1600/It's%2Ba%2BBeautiful%2BMessWM.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Look right above the blog watermark in that photo, right above the 'Gotta Be Here'... is it just me or does that look like a heart with an arrow through it? That was from me cleaning off my clean-up brush in between fingers. Total accident but it looks cool, right?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I know I've not been posting a lot lately. Sadly, I've had a medical excuse.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
For over a year now, my left wrist sometimes gives me problems. I have a brace I use when it does and normally wearing it a few hours helps make the pain stop. I don't know if it's carpal tunnel, tendinitis, or something else entirely.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A couple of weeks ago, I uploaded hundreds of photos for the jewelry shop and edited all of them... in one sitting. I think the computer work irritated my wrist too much. I was in PAIN. I wore the brace for 4 days and never felt relief. It was fine as long as I didn't bend it forward or backward, which really limits your activities.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I took a long break from the computer and as of yesterday, the pain started going away. Today, it feels fine. And yes, I'll get it looked at soon. I have an appointment with the doc next week. I'm not taking any chances with my wrist and have it get to where I can barely use it.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'll try to post more and I have some ideas for new nail art. And once my nail mail gets here, I should be able to get right on the new manicures.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

Are you ready for Christmas? I have to say that I'm super excited to see my kids open their gifts and I am beyond thrilled that it's almost time for the Christmas feast!<br />
<br />
<br />
I added a few more resin pendants to the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">ETSY shop</a>.<br />
All pendants are available in 4 shapes: circle, oval, rectangle, and square.<br />
All chain is 18 inches long but can be lengthened or shortened to your preference.<br />
<br />
Here we go!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
'Abyss'</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrQgl70jYG1CnYcAjXTGbAeg6Mb2qLY2K75HSdZKBElLB8P-fqftysQ5eYLQ-aCXcasjhTZNnMm9eduZJr7_FjbPXpvfMXRscaYSpjLE62ku2KREWd1VMklIusPdwvI44C2NcbBVA6f_92/s1600/AbyssFourWM1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrQgl70jYG1CnYcAjXTGbAeg6Mb2qLY2K75HSdZKBElLB8P-fqftysQ5eYLQ-aCXcasjhTZNnMm9eduZJr7_FjbPXpvfMXRscaYSpjLE62ku2KREWd1VMklIusPdwvI44C2NcbBVA6f_92/s1600/AbyssFourWM1.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
Inspired by the movie <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096754/"><i>The Abyss</i></a>. The glitter in this pendant shifts from blue to purple when you move it around in the light. Photos do this one NO justice. It's really gorgeous.<br />
(I wore mine one day with matching earrings, which I'm working on for the shop. While I was driving and the sun was coming in the windshield, my husband made a comment about how shiny and cool they looked.) <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
'Buttercup' </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglQ1wjnPOz7YD_ERYSlYHk6rkkKnV4OmBB066PP48ievhJNEd4uJePBZ5Q4b0ECNxOQATkmfS68PMdLYlrp_eo2ftIqhSOIG9txpC9TeoqlxrImMLP01wxU5bsVMCqALf2gqTXVbA2mUN2/s1600/ButtercupFourWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglQ1wjnPOz7YD_ERYSlYHk6rkkKnV4OmBB066PP48ievhJNEd4uJePBZ5Q4b0ECNxOQATkmfS68PMdLYlrp_eo2ftIqhSOIG9txpC9TeoqlxrImMLP01wxU5bsVMCqALf2gqTXVbA2mUN2/s1600/ButtercupFourWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
Inspired by the movie <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093779/?ref_=nm_knf_t1"><i>The Princess Bride</i></a>, this is Buttercup! This was a nail polish that I made for the 'Reel Brides' Collection when I made polish for Red Carpet Lacquer. Silver glitter suspended in resin and finished off with a beautiful shimmery blue.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
'Clover' </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5zzBxjRjDXr1UdzzhDBC79fCoD0X-Usb0WAw9UorRQEk2NbL23w2u0wcu0wmkV1dfD2khIddzq0nNELhsQxggc5g8R7bC18yXak4CZK6DmNrZlCiltbrkRZ99-3l0grimIkvlHtPo53if/s1600/CloverFourWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5zzBxjRjDXr1UdzzhDBC79fCoD0X-Usb0WAw9UorRQEk2NbL23w2u0wcu0wmkV1dfD2khIddzq0nNELhsQxggc5g8R7bC18yXak4CZK6DmNrZlCiltbrkRZ99-3l0grimIkvlHtPo53if/s1600/CloverFourWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
Inspired by the movie <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0204946/?ref_=nv_sr_1"><i>Bring It On</i></a>, this is Clover. This pendant pays homage to the East Compton Clovers and contains green, orange, and yellow glitter suspended in resin, finished off with a beautiful bright green.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
'Colonel Mustard' </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGzI1kbMgtpKeQcv4dCn4hvjJE84fI3EhevtWh4qmxVhFk_Jmy9a9SLQjgiCnQmLcBx2fzHOwJgwXqJYoSobcwMJzbmfejSn01sXWd7J0Xf0QsrDlHNB9bKbq4RUzhHIVKGWSm5nqZjtrk/s1600/MustardFourWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGzI1kbMgtpKeQcv4dCn4hvjJE84fI3EhevtWh4qmxVhFk_Jmy9a9SLQjgiCnQmLcBx2fzHOwJgwXqJYoSobcwMJzbmfejSn01sXWd7J0Xf0QsrDlHNB9bKbq4RUzhHIVKGWSm5nqZjtrk/s1600/MustardFourWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
Of course this was inspired by the movie <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088930/?ref_=nv_sr_2"><i>Clue</i></a>! I love, love, LOVE that movie. And then the television show "Psych" paid homage to it on their 100th episode. Brown glitter suspended in resin, finished off with a mustard yellow. It's always reminded me of spicy mustard. The Colonel Mustard nail polish was part of the 'Clue' Collection through Red Carpet Lacquer.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
'Delicious Flavor'</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihDyEwTZyMkQcmDCEKJcHuvKbUyp_RtcpEGbDYv7IL_mcPnOTcTVu0FJcl0ko4mdcTJ8v6aqqEIqG0QCtn89LQLAC6TawnVjL3RwylAqMXwOyt-yZiOkaIfD5NUosocuuXxtsSfKSu9IVD/s1600/DeliciousFlavorFourWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihDyEwTZyMkQcmDCEKJcHuvKbUyp_RtcpEGbDYv7IL_mcPnOTcTVu0FJcl0ko4mdcTJ8v6aqqEIqG0QCtn89LQLAC6TawnVjL3RwylAqMXwOyt-yZiOkaIfD5NUosocuuXxtsSfKSu9IVD/s1600/DeliciousFlavorFourWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
That's right, Psych fans. I AM, in fact, a fan of delicious flavor.<br />
Inspired by my everlasting, ever-growing love for the television show <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0491738/?ref_=nv_sr_2">'Psych'</a>, this is Delicious Flavor. Suspended in the resin are green and gold glitters of varying sizes and it's finished off with a bright green.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
All of these pendants and more can be found in the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">ETSY shop</a>.<br />
I'll post again with more goodies and info.<br />

Most of my Christmas decor has been up for weeks but I was slow to get photos of everything. And taking the time to watermark every photo is time consuming.<br />
<br />
Without further delay, here's our Christmas decor, 2014:<br />
<br />
A few years ago, I saw a commercial for Home Depot and fell in love with the idea of an ornament frame. I showed it to my husband (thanks, DVR pause feature!) and he made one for me! He built it, I painted it. He also added rope lights behind it using clear hooks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioSJlvpITIWjQ3W1znz5T4vgFCddB5aqXhGa6HDLZv7SmdF46MlpbkOj6hol_cWDxdaNdW9wm451-3ZGatSswyL8FdRzlOOWrGcxR8CJZtRrXcJcia6zlNLSAdRlhxtXtaiPbbG6oOsLne/s1600/DayFrameWM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioSJlvpITIWjQ3W1znz5T4vgFCddB5aqXhGa6HDLZv7SmdF46MlpbkOj6hol_cWDxdaNdW9wm451-3ZGatSswyL8FdRzlOOWrGcxR8CJZtRrXcJcia6zlNLSAdRlhxtXtaiPbbG6oOsLne/s1600/DayFrameWM.jpeg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the same frame, in the evening, with the rope lights turned on:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqwnPQWTzXw4s35sSPXPfdfOmthDU5-VpkPV0Nfw1OL1deQJ1PiMQ8m49F79qkcjzJnuTP5ccNma5aKkASRtLwA5Kormcb5KgeZ41fhuHt6GgYLW2u2ax3l4WgW5wh24za7BBbCmM4vetT/s1600/LitFrameWM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqwnPQWTzXw4s35sSPXPfdfOmthDU5-VpkPV0Nfw1OL1deQJ1PiMQ8m49F79qkcjzJnuTP5ccNma5aKkASRtLwA5Kormcb5KgeZ41fhuHt6GgYLW2u2ax3l4WgW5wh24za7BBbCmM4vetT/s1600/LitFrameWM.jpeg" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've had these apothecaries since 2007 before I moved to MN. While in the tundra, the apothecaries were wrapped up in our storage unit because there wasn't a single place where they could have been used in the old house. I finally got them out and have started using them for different seasons.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I filled the apothecaries with foam filler balls and garland from Micheal's and a few ornaments from Hobby Lobby. The snowmen on the left are from Pier 1 Imports. Also from Pier 1 are the fairy lights (they call them Glimmer Lights) filling the apothecaries.<br />

<br />
<br />
This house came with a fantastic space above the front door. I knew
the minute that I saw it that our 4ft tall Disney tree would be up
there. My husband built a box to prop it up, I added empty wrapped
boxes, and glass light boxes to finish it off. I LOVE IT.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi1A2YlAIwsWAdB1YarxGqAKFrJmJ3GsAi9W15HCV9cfa11rOJHoFYsx4dmYLWq5L4dFGTrriiFSIJYilz4BJNjNjx4oms7oQeH6YLIQfXRHOI9TDGyw2_xR-qNKhtWjntBB8Eal_APgct/s1600/DoorTreeWM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi1A2YlAIwsWAdB1YarxGqAKFrJmJ3GsAi9W15HCV9cfa11rOJHoFYsx4dmYLWq5L4dFGTrriiFSIJYilz4BJNjNjx4oms7oQeH6YLIQfXRHOI9TDGyw2_xR-qNKhtWjntBB8Eal_APgct/s1600/DoorTreeWM.jpeg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Our
big, fat tree is back in full swing this year. Our living room in MN
was just too small and rectangular to use it. We tried a new light
design this year, using two different sizes of light strands. I love the
look. It gives it so much more dimension. (Yes, that's a Winne the Pooh angel. I've had that for years.) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL8DtAqno5gTiPVERuJljCUM0UTaxh6XRIW904bw8TfqRPa1QZ2ii2hOw-8D3yVwFUgrrasxwYDX76OeTzWCLyExN-pMTDQc9J35ApUVwxSxUoIjS8_rrAB33Csqc_KOq4pleu4y_Lbjxr/s1600/TreeWM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhL8DtAqno5gTiPVERuJljCUM0UTaxh6XRIW904bw8TfqRPa1QZ2ii2hOw-8D3yVwFUgrrasxwYDX76OeTzWCLyExN-pMTDQc9J35ApUVwxSxUoIjS8_rrAB33Csqc_KOq4pleu4y_Lbjxr/s1600/TreeWM.jpeg" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Outside,
I FINALLY got to hang the wreath I made a few years ago on my front
door. In MN with the storm door keeping out the storms, the wreath
wouldn't fit so we had to hang it on the INSIDE of the door. Very few
people ever saw it. So I love that it's on display now. I worked hard on it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL6Oo_uXv4gHFFODasqwMUroXEUbL9Rwa2BbJgqN6-kRnelq-fK-lCF5xYT8iYiMyETqFY_SzQAA9v2Rh-wRYpaII3r52kuqkHYrK1U6ddPOa3-stPkHCnAxFVnsWRFudCKObKcBNAOz0p/s1600/WreathWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgL6Oo_uXv4gHFFODasqwMUroXEUbL9Rwa2BbJgqN6-kRnelq-fK-lCF5xYT8iYiMyETqFY_SzQAA9v2Rh-wRYpaII3r52kuqkHYrK1U6ddPOa3-stPkHCnAxFVnsWRFudCKObKcBNAOz0p/s1600/WreathWM.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I
also got to use garland around the door this year and was lucky enough
to find ornaments that matched and/or coordinated with the ornaments on
the wreath. I am loving the look. I found the planters in town and used Christmas floral pieces from Micheal's to create a topiary item.<br />

How did that happen? 2014 is drawing to a close and it's freaking me out how fast time flies. My grandmother always told me that the older you get, the fast it goes.<br />
She wasn't wrong.<br />
<br />
We've been living in Tennessee for over 6 months already. When we pointed that out to the kids, they flipped out. That 6 months has gone by so quickly.<br />
<br />
Here's a run down of what we've done and what's to come: <br />
<br />
On Thanksgiving we had a feast! I made my cornbread dressing, baked mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs. My husband was in charge of the turkey which turned out great. My mom asked where the green was in the meal. I pointed out that there was celery in the dressing. (Honestly, we brain-farted on the green beans this year. Whoops.)<br />
<br />
The Saturday after Thanksgiving, I participated in my first craft fair as a vendor. It was decent but there just weren't hundreds of people in the venue.<br />
<br />
The next day, we drove down to Duluth, GA and took the kids to see the Northeast Atlanta Ballet Company perform <i>The Nutcracker.</i> We all had a blast and the ballet dancers were wonderful. I thought Peanut was going to explode from excitement.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnHKAO_Vi4wygOrcx0yjQ0cEmWWn51oyfjKVj238YJttF-IWeY_-lOPXNJpRA6taX1yyPVP3rl0Ilmod22gFmABH2AeB6htuQnv3P2MPOI72uCh3QOghy57uiFF8vYJTsvHl2OeHo2QrGf/s1600/GeorgiaNutcrackerWM.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnHKAO_Vi4wygOrcx0yjQ0cEmWWn51oyfjKVj238YJttF-IWeY_-lOPXNJpRA6taX1yyPVP3rl0Ilmod22gFmABH2AeB6htuQnv3P2MPOI72uCh3QOghy57uiFF8vYJTsvHl2OeHo2QrGf/s1600/GeorgiaNutcrackerWM.jpeg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
On the way home, we hit up The Container Store since Chattanooga doesn't have one. And then we ate dinner at Buca di Beppo before heading home. Oh, Buca... how we've missed you.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSqcqZ0_QtUMcBkQR_vTCk0-SdWQb7noK0PgxUAH70VERCXOlMZXGX-AtXue__yVCNaKID4OJJweSUUtUGtNbREjeKHLBUJojyKHdNgIUZkXX7D8voG4U94eJUnBDARfi4SAvzcrhyphenhyphenvhEU/s1600/image_1+(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSqcqZ0_QtUMcBkQR_vTCk0-SdWQb7noK0PgxUAH70VERCXOlMZXGX-AtXue__yVCNaKID4OJJweSUUtUGtNbREjeKHLBUJojyKHdNgIUZkXX7D8voG4U94eJUnBDARfi4SAvzcrhyphenhyphenvhEU/s1600/image_1+(2).jpeg" height="300" width="400" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
I turned 29 <i>(again)</i> on the Monday after Thanksgiving. For my 13th birthday, my parents took me and a group of friends to dinner at Kanpaii of Tokyo for a birthday dinner. We did this every year for years. Since this was my first year in Chattanooga for my birthday in over 6 years, we picked up the tradition again.<br />
Dinner that night included myself, my husband, Peanut, Button, my mom, my step-dad, Manda, and Bug. Sadly, Noodle was at home with a crappy fever. (But we took her a to-go container full of food and even hand delivered a cupcake.)<br />
<br />
And of course, we've been decorating for Christmas! (I'm so far behind. We usually have it all done before Thanksgiving.... hush. Yes, I'm one of THOSE people. With all that we do, we do it early to actually enjoy it.)<br />
<br />
I'll have a new post featuring all the decor soon! <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />Jaimehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17357485570837155254noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6510429981152237651.post-18721384804860063292014-12-12T07:00:00.000-05:002014-12-12T07:00:06.267-05:00Christmas mani and TSOI finally painted my nails again. I do believe the last time was back in <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/11/in-between-holidays-mani.html">November...a month ago</a>. Wow. That's longer than I was thinking it had been. Between the resin work, messing with Christmas decor, and other stuff I just didn't feel like painting them when there was a huge chance the polish would chip of in an hour.<br />
<br />
Thursday night, we had tickets to see <a href="http://www.trans-siberian.com/">TSO</a> in Atlanta. I wanted a festive holiday mani since TSO is all about Christmas this time of year.<br />
<br />
My husband and I have seen them twice before up in Minnesota but this was a first for the kids, kids who absolutely love their music.<br />
The show was fantastic and the kids had a ball. They've decided that they'd like to go see the show every year.<br />
<br />
If they come to a town near you, GO! (You'll most likely have to wait until next year. They do this show from mid-November to early January. Tickets went on sale in September? And they DO sell out shows.)<br />
<br />
So, for my Christmas spirit mani, I chose to experiment with free handing an animal and using striping tape which I have but never seem to bother with (mainly since I'm inpatient and the tape is tiny).<br />
<br />
<br />
I found a tutorial from Blanket Print Nails for Rudolph and I thought I could try it. I did a Scotch Tape Christmas tree a few years ago (wrote <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/09/fa-la-la-la-blue-stars-in-winter.html">this post</a> of it a few months ago) but I wanted to do it again since it's easy as heck.<br />
<br />

I present.... my Christmas nails:</div>

<br />
I was very happy with how Rudolph turned out. The candy cane nails took the longest because I'm not that great getting striping tape to cooperate. (I need decals.)<br />

<br />
I don't use FB much anymore. I check what other people are posting about and upload an occasional photo but that's about it. I do use it to update the FB page for the blog and my Etsy shop but honestly, I am FB'ed out. So I'll use the blog as a way to proclaim my thankfulness this year, mm'kay?<br />
<br />
<b>1) I am immensely thankful for my family:</b><br />
~My husband is my best friend and I can tell him anything. He has been so helpful with getting my jewelry business going and even washes dishes. Now THAT'S a good man.<br />
~My children are crazy weird, super smart, and so well behaved/polite. My life would be terribly boring without these 2 weirdos.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBQlUHu7zA0C_OKabOK4OEqdGw4m7Nsu_d-M54QDWWK0SQYT5KOWLFVITwTf52-rgfnoy6wlbJ9RdRKdKUuY2tcd3s_yo7khg-ds_74rErnx1WKkiuoXiv5yZUeiTS4gY5xPEyaSojkJ7/s1600/CrazyPeopleWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdBQlUHu7zA0C_OKabOK4OEqdGw4m7Nsu_d-M54QDWWK0SQYT5KOWLFVITwTf52-rgfnoy6wlbJ9RdRKdKUuY2tcd3s_yo7khg-ds_74rErnx1WKkiuoXiv5yZUeiTS4gY5xPEyaSojkJ7/s1600/CrazyPeopleWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">She had no idea about the photobombing </td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
~I'm thankful for my mother. She drives me batty sometimes and we butt heads A LOT but she has always been there for me. No matter how bad I've screwed up or disappointed her in some way, she's always in my corner.<br />
<br />
<b>2) I'm terribly thankful that we moved down south back in May.</b><br />
On Monday is got up near 70 degrees. In Minnesota, they've had a few weeks of temps that never got above 20. This year, my husband didn't get snow on his birthday which made both of us happy. I like southern winters, not upper Midwest winters. I like hoodies and cute boots, not being wrapped up like Randy from <i>A Christmas Story.</i><br />
<br />
<b>3) I'm thankful to be back in my hometown.</b><br />
It's so familiar to me and it's great to be near old friends. I get to see my nieces so much more. Watching them turn into young women and getting to see them perform in Color Guard has been so wonderful. They are growing up so fast. Too fast. I'm glad I can be here to be with them.<br />
<br />
<b>4) I'm thankful that I'm healthy. (Relatively.)</b><br />
I wake up each morning and seem to have more stiffness and joints that hurt the older I get, but I'm still pretty healthy. And with a good heating pad, I can make my shoulder blades feel less like someone is twisting my muscles into pretzels. (Yup, heating pad is on as I type this.)<br />
<br />
<b>5) I'm thankful that I get the opportunity to try and make a go of my jewelry business.</b><br />
I have 2 craft fairs coming up in the next two weeks and I'm nervous/really excited to show my wares to people. I truly believe in my product and I've put a lot of time and effort into making the best jewelry that I can make.<br />
<br />

<br />
How's the weather in your area? I swear, I moved out of Minnesota back in May to avoid really cold weather, especially too early in winter. Hell, it's still FALL. But Mother Nature decided to show me a few flakes last night.<br />
I hate her.<br />
<br />
Anyway!<br />
This weekend, we celebrated my husband's birthday with homemade baked ziti and cake.<br />
My niece, Noodle, spent the night with us and was here to celebrate the birthday. After she passed out (do all teenagers poop out before midnight these days?), I managed to get a few more pendants made for the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">shop</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i><u>First up is a rainbow of beauty, inspired by </u></i><u>The Wizard of Oz</u><i><u>.</u></i><br />
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/211468886/black-oz-not-kansas-resin-pendant?ref=listing-shop-header-3">Black Oz, Not Kansas resin pendant</a>: When I made polish, this was my bestseller. In the bottle, it didn't look like much. But painted on top of black? Yowza. It's a rainbow of glitters finished off with black to make the glitter glow. My mother loves this one in the sun. My niece wanted this pendant first out of the others I had when I asked. It's damn near impossible to photograph well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<i><u>Next is the pendant inspired by the movie </u></i><u>Steel Magnolias</u><i><u>. "My colors are Blush and Bashful, Momma!"</u></i> <br />
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/211469536/dark-pink-shelby-resin-pendant-necklace?ref=listing-shop-header-2">Dark pink 'Shelby' resin pendant</a>: This pendant is one of two featuring my 'Shelby' mix. The pink on the back to finish this one off is darker than the other version, which I don't have photographed yet. There are two different pink glitters in various sizes suspended in this pendant.<br />

<br />
<br />
<i><u>This next one was me paying homage to the Rancho Carne Toros from the movie </u></i><u>Bring It On</u><i><u>! I usually don't like cheerleading movies and I only like the original featuring Kirsten Dunst and Eliza Dushku.</u></i><br />
<i>Of course, this could absolutely be used on game day for any school that uses red, white, and black for its school colors. I think of the Georgia Bulldogs looking at this one.</i><br />
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/211470548/red-toro-resin-pendant-necklace?ref=listing-shop-header-1">Red 'Toro' resin pendant</a>: Multiple sizes and shapes of red, white, and black glitter are suspended in this one and finished off with a pretty, transparent red. (For UGA fans, I did create a pendant this weekend using the same glitters but using silver on the back.... Silver britches, anyone? I just need to photograph it.)<br />

<br />
<br />
That's all that I have for now. I have a few more new things but I need to sit down and photograph them. It's going to be difficult to photograph Ms. Peacock, my current favorite. Those pendants are finished off with shifting colors and they look so great.<br />
<br />
Oh and be on the lookout for 'Abyss', Unda Da' Sea, and 'The Glades'. Color shifting glitters? Heck yeah! <br />

<br />
<i>Disclaimer: No polishes were harmed in the making of this jewelry. </i> <br />
<br />
After what seems like a lifetime and a half of trial, error, research, and development, I finally have some finished resin pendants in my Etsy shop, <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">Travelin' Chick Designs</a>.<br />
<br />
A couple of years ago, I made nail polish and sold it on Etsy. My indie brand was <a href="http://www.redcarpetlacquer.com/">Red Carpet Lacquer</a> and I sold a few polishes. I made polishes inspired by television shows and movies. I got out of it because it was a lot of hassle, too many inconsistencies with supplies, and there are some crazy people in the nail polish community. <br />
<br />
When we moved, we moved a few boxes of nail polish making supplies, including glitter and pigments. I wondered several times what in the world I was going to do with all of that glitter.<br />
<br />
Last year, I bought my first resin supplies. And after it came in, my husband and I talked about experimenting with the resin and the glitter and maybe making nail polish jewelry. I ended up tossing that idea into the trash due to the fact that there were already a lot of people smearing nail polish on the back of a glass cabochon and gluing it into a bezel.<br />
<br />
But then I thought... if I could get the glitter suspended in the resin and use pigments/dyes to sort of recreate my polishes from scratch, that would be cool.<br />
And then we decided to move. And I had to pack. And then I had to unpack. And then we were busy all summer so the resin jewelry idea got pushed to the back of my mind. <br />
<br />
A few months ago, I finally got started. And I had a lot of nights that I thought I'd find something else to make because resin? It's fussy. Suspending glitter? Fussy. Water marbling a specific color theme onto resin for kids in a specific school? FUSSY.<br />
<br />
But I finally got it all figured out and I LOVE the results.<br />
Below are a few of the pendants that are all done and listed in the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">shop</a>.<br />
<br />
<br />
<u><i>'Grifter</i>'</u><i><u> was inspired by a character named Sophie on the TNT show,<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leverage_%28TV_series%29"> </a></u></i><u><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leverage_%28TV_series%29"><b>Leverage</b></a></u><i>.</i> <br />
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/210356079/black-grifter-resin-pendant?ref=shop_home_active_9">Black 'Grifter' resin pendant</a>: In the sun, this is stunning. It's full of holographic silver glitter and domed with solid back to show off the glitter. When I made the 'Grifter' polish, I almost always wore it over black. Photographing it is difficult because it just doesn't capture the sparkle.<br />
The chain is 17 inches but can be adjusted to 19 inches long.<br />

<u><i>'JJ' was inspired by the character Penelope Garcia on my favorite show, </i><b>Criminal Minds</b><i>. Garcia wears a lot of crazy colored clothing and I decided to base a <a href="http://www.redcarpetlacquer.com/2012/07/teaser-pics-of-2-new-polishes.html">few polishes off her attire</a>. Last, but never least... one of my <a href="http://www.redcarpetlacquer.com/2012/06/toula-swatches-and-new-bottles.html">most favorite polishes</a> that I ever made/experimented with (and possibly the best swatching photos that I ever accomplished).<br />
<br />
<i><u>'Toula' was inspired by one of my favorite movies, </u></i><b><u>My Big Fat Greek Wedding</u></b><i><u>. Blue was so big in the movie... bridesmaids dresses, invites, flags, and of course the Windex</u></i>.<br />
<a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/210608945/blue-toula-resin-pendant-necklace?ref=shop_home_active_5">Blue 'Toula' resin pendant</a>: There are several shades of blue glitter mixed with silver in this pendant. I plan to experiment with a darker background but I do have several different shades like this one.<br />
Chain is 17 inches, adjusts to 19 inches.<br />

All of the above pendants are now in the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TravelinChickDesigns">Etsy shop</a>. I'll be adding more in the next week.<br />
Stay tuned!<br />

And it's a little too early (to me) for Thanksgiving nails. It's WAY too early for Christmas nails (sad face). I finally took off my <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/halloween-nail-art.html">spiderweb mani</a> today and tried out some new polishes.<br />
<br />
Last month at the <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/last-weekend-i-met-some-nail-ladies.html">Nal Gals Meet-up</a>, I managed to get my hands on the Pipe Dream Polish 'A Night in Vegas' neon cremes.<br />
<br />
The neons are incredible. The formula is great, the colors are BRIGHT, they're black light reactive, and they water marble like a dream. April <i>just</i> did a restock and they sold out lightning fast (as usual) so getting your hands on some might take a little while. She's going to be low on restocks until after Christmas, I believe. But be patient. She has NO PLANS TO DISCONTINUE the neons.<br />
<br />
Anyway.... check this out!<br />

<br />
During that home game, it was 34 degrees, the competition being slightly better (warmer) the next night. But on Halloween, it was 72 degrees with a little sprinkling after the candy gathering.<br />
<br />
This year? The year we live here? It bottomed out a bit and dropped into the 40's and of course, there was wind and rain. The twins had a football game and the band left early due to the sleet falling on them in the stands.<br />
<br />
I would like to put the blame on the <i>numerous</i> Elsa's and Olaf's I saw on Halloween. I guess for those kids, it was more realistic if we were all frozen.<br />
<br />
But as bad as it was here, it was worse up in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where it was actually snowing. Poor kids. You know it sucked to have to wear full winter gear over the well-planned costumes.<br />
<br />
Instead of hiking up and down the hills of our neighborhood, we went to a Halloween Block Party in Cleveland, TN. It has become a really popular event. They had food vendors, craft vendors, tons of people in costume, music, and CANDY. The M&M/Mars company has a factory nearby and they hand out candy to everyone, not just the kids. But more about that in a minute.<br />
<br />
I spent more time than I liked figuring out what to do with each kid's head. I tried the sock bun thing on Peanut and was ready to chuck the sock straight out the door. Never again. I tried a regular bun but the hair on that head seems to have tripled in thickness. Finally I achieved a bun that I could live with. Actually, I loved it. It reminded me of a cinnamon roll.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfTYiYtm1TUl1rJSArcsa0QsX7J5dW_8ofQhj0bQnpjVrERgrngw9b5UQ59I0qfvosCCcaWqbMdPDmCm-05rLyQ-HfsF-mcpoudnk-_gN0vYi9cNMX8b9BG5iwqPY0MxZU5WmEhVw4Is78/s1600/PeanutHalloweenHairWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfTYiYtm1TUl1rJSArcsa0QsX7J5dW_8ofQhj0bQnpjVrERgrngw9b5UQ59I0qfvosCCcaWqbMdPDmCm-05rLyQ-HfsF-mcpoudnk-_gN0vYi9cNMX8b9BG5iwqPY0MxZU5WmEhVw4Is78/s1600/PeanutHalloweenHairWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I already had her hair in a ponytail so I separated a piece out and twisted that around into a bun. I pinned it with bobby pins. The other section ended up too thick (geez with the hair!) so I split it into another piece and twisted that around as well, securing it with more bobby pins. I took that last piece and twisted it around the previous two pieces. I think we used 20 bobby pins to hold it into place. I made sure she KNEW that she better be careful with her head the rest of the day (the child is hell on her hair).<br />
<br />
For Button, I wanted her hair half up. I decided to get my curling wand out and give her hair some body. She has really thick hair too but it's confused. Some of it's curly, some is wavy, and then there are a few strands that are almost stick straight. It wasn't hard to curl but MAN that took a little while. My hair would have been done 15 minutes in but she had about 3 times more hair. It took forever but she LOVED it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimC8I6qyqkQR0bLX6XNvQfVaj9eFauOah61buZRMKrF7lmTwz2W2I-Ifv6ZuSnnV1B8aXYd8Nn0IuW_WFciutkRw9zmCXEWVDR_GdClG5MkO7dEZzd3_XrKC1-MDSHRgbHl7MWTgJpobW5/s1600/ButtonHalloweenHairWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimC8I6qyqkQR0bLX6XNvQfVaj9eFauOah61buZRMKrF7lmTwz2W2I-Ifv6ZuSnnV1B8aXYd8Nn0IuW_WFciutkRw9zmCXEWVDR_GdClG5MkO7dEZzd3_XrKC1-MDSHRgbHl7MWTgJpobW5/s1600/ButtonHalloweenHairWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Normally I would have run my fingers through it but since we weren't leaving right after I was done with it, I left it alone. Over the course of the next few hours, it relaxed a little on it's own and looked great.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Before we got them dressed, it started to rain. On Halloween. Nice joke, Mother Nature. Cold on Halloween is one thing but rain can ruin a costume. It was raining hard so we decided to get them dressed and drive up to Cleveland and see what the weather would do once we parked.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We made sure they had tights and sweats on under their dresses to help block the cold a little. And I was so thankful we chose dresses that didn't have to go over their heads.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />I loved their costumes. I painted Peanut's nails with China Glaze Glistening Snow (what I used in <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/halloween-nail-art.html">this mani</a>) to match the sparkle on her dress and all of her jewels. Button's nails were neon Skittles to match the colors in her dress.<br />

<br />
<br />
We had fun at the Block Party but the kids were not warm and the rain was irritating. (Yes, we had umbrellas.) After getting the candy from the M&M/Mars people we left and went to get warm clothes at home. You may be thinking "But that's not a lot of candy".<br />
Bwhahahaha.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry. Here's a pic of the candy haul. </div>

They gave EACH of us a bag full of 3 types of M&M's and Twix bars. My husband weighed the bags later that night.... 2 pounds of candy per bag! We came home with 8 pounds of M&M's and Twix candy bars. Not bad at all.<br />
<br />
<br />
Hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween! Here's hoping next year will be a little warmer and dryer.<br />

Can you believe that the month of October is nearing an end and we not only see the start of November this weekend but also the time change? Yikes. Where does the time go?<br />
<br />
I have photos of my current mani, done up for Halloween.<br />
Now, it's not perfect but I am proud of it since it's free-handed by ME. Seriously! I made webs and a spider. I can stamp, I can water marble... but ask me to free-hand anything on my nails and I usually laugh and walk away.<br />
<br />
Also, I achieved chevrons! Did I free-hand those? Heck no. Nail decals, baby. It was my first time using them (they came in a gift with a nail polish order) and I want to order more!<br />

As you may have noticed, I didn't use orange in my Halloween mani. I don't like orange. I will use it for a <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/candy-corn-water-marble.html">Candy Corn inspired mani</a> but I prefer purple and black around Halloween. </div>

<br />
Can you believe Halloween is a little over a week away?<br />
How about the fact that the time change is next weekend? <br />
<br />
Can you believe that there are only 9 Fridays left until Christmas?<br />
<br />
Did I just depress you with the last one or make you super happy? <br />
<br />
I finally took off my <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/last-weekend-i-met-some-nail-ladies.html">falling leaves mani</a> and my nails were naked all weekend. I wanted to do something new but I really didn't feel like painting them. Patience is not a virtue of mine.<br />
<br />
Monday night I finally sat down to paint something in the spirit of Halloween on my nails. After staring at my nails and Instagram feed for a while looking for inspiration, I cam up with this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiFqU3rXsCtWxIjm-TeEHS-QNevlQJ7ipB646b41_datw8LvVe2cWbk-I0XxcEl2YEPSRtn5RFqS6cjHILor-iYZhz7SR9GHS94IbpEGFfH78DXm68Lkpap9IDQ0Mev-5BsvzYQ-qI089J/s1600/Eyes+and+StripesWM+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiFqU3rXsCtWxIjm-TeEHS-QNevlQJ7ipB646b41_datw8LvVe2cWbk-I0XxcEl2YEPSRtn5RFqS6cjHILor-iYZhz7SR9GHS94IbpEGFfH78DXm68Lkpap9IDQ0Mev-5BsvzYQ-qI089J/s1600/Eyes+and+StripesWM+-+Copy.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I like the googly eyes. While I was making them, I kept thinking of the opening of Scooby Doo.<br />
<br />
<u>Polishes used in this mani</u>:<br />
Pointer finger- Pipe Dream Polish 'V.I.P. Pass'<br />
Middle finger- Pipe Dream Polish '110 Degrees'<br />
Pinky finger- Pipe Dream Polish 'High Roller'<br />
<br />
Thumb and ring finger base- Zoya 'Raven' <br />
<br />
<u>Water marble on the neons</u>:<br />
Orly Liquid 'Vinyl' and Sally Hansen 'Invisible'<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtJNKaJPNGd4y1P79JOW7TdlKrIq0vz_xIglOJSAndOXu5_JIILxrGd1W_wAc2Rz-yGzsUJquHhmeZznDhxPHsaxE8Lwl0_-bPPL_dr9ebnJQ5RnxDuvAcEFyTgZ8sRFmOa2BQLTn9XcLm/s1600/Eyes&StripesWM+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtJNKaJPNGd4y1P79JOW7TdlKrIq0vz_xIglOJSAndOXu5_JIILxrGd1W_wAc2Rz-yGzsUJquHhmeZznDhxPHsaxE8Lwl0_-bPPL_dr9ebnJQ5RnxDuvAcEFyTgZ8sRFmOa2BQLTn9XcLm/s1600/Eyes&StripesWM+-+Copy.JPG" height="298" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The neons from Pipe Dream Polish are great. They cover so much better than any other neon polishes that I own AND they are blacklight reactive! (Not glow-in-the-dark!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4iDsLWcDbs8HnOCbl5RctG222j8K93jgWRXpE8TTIXZIF5P8qCLWiV-Ab6IC0viEXMESgLRZehtJUTBCXhWMwq2Aljhdcic0lymvv5km_23eg-xoNBsGBNQz8UuYzotcDUEgWG8TgDfJ6/s1600/GlowEyesWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4iDsLWcDbs8HnOCbl5RctG222j8K93jgWRXpE8TTIXZIF5P8qCLWiV-Ab6IC0viEXMESgLRZehtJUTBCXhWMwq2Aljhdcic0lymvv5km_23eg-xoNBsGBNQz8UuYzotcDUEgWG8TgDfJ6/s1600/GlowEyesWM.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKiyb-vpIEl-Zd7vkHNac9m_tJK-2F_AmPmawzmwV_CKJLB8N6O3AlK7HeZpVBYEdyBgACtCRD8g72y1rTzHCDENbVeo5DCIh9ZggprK6buH_J4HmcVoSxEtWMUuxGf2l62jXouR4Feq7/s1600/GlowingEyesWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwKiyb-vpIEl-Zd7vkHNac9m_tJK-2F_AmPmawzmwV_CKJLB8N6O3AlK7HeZpVBYEdyBgACtCRD8g72y1rTzHCDENbVeo5DCIh9ZggprK6buH_J4HmcVoSxEtWMUuxGf2l62jXouR4Feq7/s1600/GlowingEyesWM.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I really love how the little eyes glow. Now if I could just carry around a little blacklight and constantly have them glowing, that would be great.<br />
<br />
<br />

Let me check my calendar since all of my days run together...Oh yeah!</i><br />
<i>HAPPY HUMP DAY, everyone! </i><br />
<br />
On Sunday, I met up with some other nail polish enthusiasts in downtown Chattanooga. I had never been to <a href="http://urbanstack.com/">Urban Stack</a> before (I typically avoid downtown) but I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.<br />
<br />
When meeting up with total strangers, the nerves start to surface a bit. <i>What if we have nothing in common? What if we all just sit and stare at our plates? What if one of them is like my stalker and starts spending all of her time online trying to find out when I eat and pee? </i><br />
<br />
I should have realized that we'd have plenty to talk about... we all love nail polish. Having at least one thing in common guarantees that the ice will be broken<i> </i>and you'll have something to chat about which will possibly bring up other things you'll have in common.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our nail theme was falling leaves so we all did our own designs using that theme. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was mine:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4XzfHgoSGM29wj2BhDMCZ8me1uLs5ICSnede5pZbe3fuV6qgyHNQT5DUEfpRqGdiDbojtuVPiY8lyRpkv_ZGvYvoEs-iq4A7duv-FVFKWg2fGck3Y8zCK0JYJmEFcPzGIrR5JrB-DOLkS/s1600/FallingLeavesWM+-+Copy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4XzfHgoSGM29wj2BhDMCZ8me1uLs5ICSnede5pZbe3fuV6qgyHNQT5DUEfpRqGdiDbojtuVPiY8lyRpkv_ZGvYvoEs-iq4A7duv-FVFKWg2fGck3Y8zCK0JYJmEFcPzGIrR5JrB-DOLkS/s1600/FallingLeavesWM+-+Copy.JPG" height="315" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Colors used in this mani are from Zoya and China Glaze.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Water marble</u>: Zoya Darcy and Thandie with China Glaze Adventure Red-y.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<u>Gradient</u>: Same as the marble but add Zoya Louise for the stamping using BM04.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here is a group shot, taken by our </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
waitress (who also loves nails and polish):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVQmXdRzAODPx2ynW2gzzwvYdO9ESaRb3rxyV-GFCGnJLexiGu2bpu-Bj-gq812D8LmVNt4ZFwMXhk_vXuFM4UVZ28xruuDUQ3E9Ck7rmESmsuEmvnEWKp-2KNXzKv0M8aNnvLhgxm4rlH/s1600/image.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVQmXdRzAODPx2ynW2gzzwvYdO9ESaRb3rxyV-GFCGnJLexiGu2bpu-Bj-gq812D8LmVNt4ZFwMXhk_vXuFM4UVZ28xruuDUQ3E9Ck7rmESmsuEmvnEWKp-2KNXzKv0M8aNnvLhgxm4rlH/s1600/image.png" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And of course, if you have a meet-up consisting of nail ladies, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
you have to a shot of all the nails:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdZT-C5F-GB8PP0A622CUErIyrGrSTPCsiIcOGZBTaLuOXYtwd5otQo6Rmf-lTOqXtQa7qjmi3_wknvy8bAxOSLzYgYvPdSsqM4jclUIHagNgLC4pFTo4-mC-j1FdU1s0ZRK3p5-phoiG5/s1600/image(1).png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdZT-C5F-GB8PP0A622CUErIyrGrSTPCsiIcOGZBTaLuOXYtwd5otQo6Rmf-lTOqXtQa7qjmi3_wknvy8bAxOSLzYgYvPdSsqM4jclUIHagNgLC4pFTo4-mC-j1FdU1s0ZRK3p5-phoiG5/s1600/image(1).png" height="397" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I had a blast and we are planning another meet up. Only 3 of us were local (around Chattanooga) while a few drove in from Knoxville, Nashville, and Birmingham! After food, we headed to shop <i>(Of course we hit up the polish/make-up stores. Duh!)</i><br />
We hit up Ulta, Sally's, and then a final stop at TJMAXX, concentrating on the polish. After that we all parted ways since the majority of the ladies had a long drive ahead (through a hell of a storm).<i> </i><br />
<i><br /></i>
We all left fed, happy with our polish purchases, and a few new followers on Instagram. :)<br />
Can't wait for the next one!<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>Have you ever had a meet-up with people you met online?</i><br />
<br />

<br />
Over the weekend, we went to check out Old McDonald's Farm. You can read the first two posts about our experience <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/old-mcdonald-had-farm-festival.html">here</a> and <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/gem-mining-at-old-mcdonalds-farm.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Today we are going to talk corn... specifically corn kernels in a giant box.<br />
Last year, when we still lived in Minnesota, we took the kids to the <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2013/10/corn-kernels-and-pumpkins-afternoon-at.html">Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze</a>. It was a blast and when we moved south, I was worried that we wouldn't find anything that lived up to it. (Dude, their corn maze is 16+ acres! If you are in Minnesota in the month of October, you should go.)<br />
<br />
Although the kids had a blast last year in the corn pit, this year was better. In Minnesota, it was one giant box filled with kids. Flying feet were common and usually came within inches of your head. The corn pit at Old McDonald's Farm (Corn Crib, they call it) was SO much better. Instead of one huge area, inside the Combine Barn there were 3 smaller boxes filled with corn kernels. My girls had one entire such box all to themselves. It was nice not to have to worry about some brat kicking the snot out of my girls.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I mean, just look at the faces of these silly kids:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFQmVrkpYIB6sRO3OgWE3_vnUOQ481R2JkMvVpRmoNlQbxDzVslwjVDmV1AZQ2GtFLERWvo5Iep9OjoiSaZ_qfcR8u0gHBlV0HYnt-A3sNELbVfbi3nr2vXmGBfqxIUdk6MOhnFU0UM-YJ/s1600/Corn+Pit+2WM.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFQmVrkpYIB6sRO3OgWE3_vnUOQ481R2JkMvVpRmoNlQbxDzVslwjVDmV1AZQ2GtFLERWvo5Iep9OjoiSaZ_qfcR8u0gHBlV0HYnt-A3sNELbVfbi3nr2vXmGBfqxIUdk6MOhnFU0UM-YJ/s1600/Corn+Pit+2WM.JPG" height="331" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Peanut offering corn kernels... or finally losing what's left of her mind? You never know with her. She'll be the first to tell you that she's not quite normal. And she doesn't want to be normal. Normal is boring. And anything boring isn't worth her time.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiWhZmfkh5P84pYI5osLJbVYz-WGIEmK_G4bfAWzLJwk7YEZsuPksLtN9hTUHB3vZqjGBk4jHDA__qaxa3-QaiU2kEly_psr4QCawkuj6jbtazVc_x-l0A6v90HsQ_eqMCU3UuVOGIndXq/s1600/Corn+Pit+3WM+.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiWhZmfkh5P84pYI5osLJbVYz-WGIEmK_G4bfAWzLJwk7YEZsuPksLtN9hTUHB3vZqjGBk4jHDA__qaxa3-QaiU2kEly_psr4QCawkuj6jbtazVc_x-l0A6v90HsQ_eqMCU3UuVOGIndXq/s1600/Corn+Pit+3WM+.JPG" height="400" width="366" /></a></div>
<br />
Age is not an issue when dealing with corn cribs. Button had just as much, or more fun, than Peanut did in that corn. She kept making the silliest faces and had a look of pure happiness.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXgFYrGVIoGItU_el50PIr6oO2ZqcBdMNikJSmWk29xIPvP-hEV919bYMnHj_HpeKRMsUBJgonVgQGY89KNeRkX1y8jpibBZEqzFYI-KqQripWYnNTWphROkUJ8DV7SSyGEZnkJAeedIWH/s1600/Corn+Pit+7WM.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXgFYrGVIoGItU_el50PIr6oO2ZqcBdMNikJSmWk29xIPvP-hEV919bYMnHj_HpeKRMsUBJgonVgQGY89KNeRkX1y8jpibBZEqzFYI-KqQripWYnNTWphROkUJ8DV7SSyGEZnkJAeedIWH/s1600/Corn+Pit+7WM.JPG" height="360" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Button's face cracks me up. The thought of her sister burying her is worrisome. She loves her sister so much but there are some things that require a little more trust than others.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiscBkV6c6bLrB_roVty0EHcoqao-eA4LbC5_s6kJju7mnnBeT4UnUflvT2KkW3gDleJZqT7_tJYmbNuraMFJZMq9NTh0Zxh-gBt46ddaWq3yatsZRm4X3o_fPlJ-jOTaeE7Y16Uugqpo2d/s1600/Corn+Pit+8WM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiscBkV6c6bLrB_roVty0EHcoqao-eA4LbC5_s6kJju7mnnBeT4UnUflvT2KkW3gDleJZqT7_tJYmbNuraMFJZMq9NTh0Zxh-gBt46ddaWq3yatsZRm4X3o_fPlJ-jOTaeE7Y16Uugqpo2d/s1600/Corn+Pit+8WM.JPG" height="295" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Again, Button making strange faces. I'm pretty sure at this point, they were both "swimming". I was thrilled because as Button has gotten older, she's gotten less vocal. I think she's part trying to live with a sister that never stops talking and part growing up and trying to figure out if some things are too 'young for her'. Luckily, jumping into a pit filled with corn kernels makes age just a number.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigxEivVeCSweEiUPDHCHKA7gkw04xdUATl3pI3SZqbUgVTe-BybBqWO_5P2mguuYmOGXXwGlzxCGPpkLUwTalyLLmzODFq5HNcPsrtKTPNRuOitU7Plbg8kNm6flGDHPscliapPqZWfpbM/s1600/Corn+Pit+5WM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigxEivVeCSweEiUPDHCHKA7gkw04xdUATl3pI3SZqbUgVTe-BybBqWO_5P2mguuYmOGXXwGlzxCGPpkLUwTalyLLmzODFq5HNcPsrtKTPNRuOitU7Plbg8kNm6flGDHPscliapPqZWfpbM/s1600/Corn+Pit+5WM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
This child... She has that attitude of "I don't care". She loves her family and wants to be a good kid but she doesn't care what people think of her and her craziness. She's a hoot, for sure. It seems like she never stops talking and asking questions. If she's not talking, she's making strange noises or singing a silly song. Like I said, she's not boring.<br />
<br />
<br />
If you get a chance to go to <a href="http://oldmcdonaldsfarm.net/">Old McDonald's Farm</a> or any other Fall Festival that has a corn pit, go. It's a weird sensation to be surrounded by all of that corn and the kids love it.<br />
<br />

You can read part 1 <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/old-mcdonald-had-farm-festival.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Today, we are going to talk Gem Mining and how much mining for gems can thrill a child.<br />
<br />
At Old McDonald's Farm, you pay extra to mine gems. The prices range from $6 (small bag) to $18 (largest bag). Once you buy the bag, you take the kids over to the mining tower, grab a sifter, and shove it down into the water to uncover your treasures.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7UK5bTj91kjZx7ATBmZD4ts8tZBopXl1s3Rn0rcuw-1RRDP4JnS0t3BM2tCiBQs_7w80vHEZq9gAL0TU-z2wpC6fE-PYnqxePRMl2HtV4c4HCkTjeZmeDiXzDPeM2W7GcRlSKoFv6zL8/s1600/Mining-+PeanutWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7UK5bTj91kjZx7ATBmZD4ts8tZBopXl1s3Rn0rcuw-1RRDP4JnS0t3BM2tCiBQs_7w80vHEZq9gAL0TU-z2wpC6fE-PYnqxePRMl2HtV4c4HCkTjeZmeDiXzDPeM2W7GcRlSKoFv6zL8/s1600/Mining-+PeanutWM.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm pretty sure both kids would have stood at that farm the rest of the day going through their booty but I told them to wait until we got home. And they did. I will say that I'm proud of them, too. For the rest of the day, they hauled their treasure bags around and never once complained.<br />
<br />
Upon returning home and after a change into PJ's, they set to work grouping their treasures and inspecting each little rock or fossil. I kid you not, they sat there for over an hour playing with rocks and fossils.<br />
<br />
Button was very particular about how the rocks and fossils were divided up into groups. And she inspected each one for several long minutes before making the decision. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg26lRnQtqdsF46XLs22lBwlVIn5099fLjIGsjkDdYloTt1iE1hiAEtLOiJ87kUcOjQ3iwmi813DrLr6YXFrHQDhsL2VbaYSa5BIHAXcv0wBwQZbh7_phdUW1IQftOwcvc_MUTlF7XYjmO6/s1600/Mining+Finds-+ButtonWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg26lRnQtqdsF46XLs22lBwlVIn5099fLjIGsjkDdYloTt1iE1hiAEtLOiJ87kUcOjQ3iwmi813DrLr6YXFrHQDhsL2VbaYSa5BIHAXcv0wBwQZbh7_phdUW1IQftOwcvc_MUTlF7XYjmO6/s1600/Mining+Finds-+ButtonWM.JPG" height="301" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Peanut was a little less picky about how the rocks and fossils were split up, as evidenced by her larger piles of treasures. She too played for over an hour before finally putting them in her collection box. (Yes, they collect rocks and tumbled gemstones.)<br />

<br />
<br />
That's all for today. Come back tomorrow for more photos from <a href="http://oldmcdonaldsfarm.net/">Old McDonald's Farm Days</a>. The next post in the series will be pics from the Corn Crib (corn kernel pit).<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
E-i-e-i-o!</div>
<br />
On Sunday, my husband and I took the kids to a farm in nearby Sale Creek, Tennessee.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://oldmcdonaldsfarm.net/">Old McDonald's Farm</a> dates back to 1821 and has been run since by 8 generations of the McDonald family. In 2011, they opened up the farm to visitors in the fall for family fun and activities.<br />
<br />
I found it while using Google to figure out where we could find a fall festival or two to attend. We decided Saturday evening that we'd go on Sunday since the forecast was saying the weather would be perfect for walking around a farm.<br />
<br />
Sunday was cool, clear, and low on humidity with a slight breeze blowing through the grounds. There were a number of cars in the lot but it wasn't overly crowded.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-_t0_qXdMH3NHe8PesEeUZsbveUOPDgZuihaC4mdJbzkSJ7Vz8TkogUFCoM3gvG7YPtOxU_H6RQPYgJa0oafg0ksphuuheto3LflS2_qeWodmefi7RPNz-AzVYutcngov2mBMOuhNcK91/s1600/Streak+of+lightWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-_t0_qXdMH3NHe8PesEeUZsbveUOPDgZuihaC4mdJbzkSJ7Vz8TkogUFCoM3gvG7YPtOxU_H6RQPYgJa0oafg0ksphuuheto3LflS2_qeWodmefi7RPNz-AzVYutcngov2mBMOuhNcK91/s1600/Streak+of+lightWM.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Admission is $12 per person and that fee included the following activities:<br />
~ Uncle Ben's Wagon Ride<br />
~ Hay Ride to a pumpkin patch (pumpkins extra) <br />
~ Barnyard 500<br />
~ Combine Barn<br />
~ Farm Life Experience<br />
~ Critter Barn<br />
~ Corn Maze<br />
~ Hay Maze<br />
~ Corn Kernel Pit<br />
~ Pumpkin Checkers <br />
<br />
For a little extra, you can partake in:<br />
~ Pumpkin Slingshot (3 pumpkins for $1)<br />
~ Gem Mining (prices vary depending on how much you want to sift- prices start at $6) <br />
~ Football Corral (for the dads who can't get away from the big game)<br />
~ Farmer's Golf ($5)<br />
<br />
I took so many pictures of stuff that I decided to split the visit to the farm into several posts. There's photo heavy posts and then there's just ridiculously photo heavy posts. Your computers may thank me.<br />
<br />
Today's post will be some of the photos that I took around the farm.<br />

<br />
It really is a beautiful place. And I love that one of the outside walls of the Combine Barn, there is a sort of growth chart for the kids. If you take your kids to the farm each year and take a picture of them in front of the chart, you can see how much they grow from one fall to another.<br />

<br />
That's it for today's post. I'll be back tomorrow with photos of the Gem Mining. The kids had a blast mining for gems at the farm... and then for over an hour at home looking at their prized finds.<br />

<i>Have you been to a Fall festival this year? </i><br />
<br />

I made my own because I just couldn't find anything in the stores or online that I liked. It was fun picking out the colors and ornaments that I wanted to see hanging on my door and the end result is one of my loves in life.<br />
<i>(Sorry but my only photo of it sucks since I was never able to hang it outside on the door at our old house. I'll have a better photo later this year.)</i><br />
<br />
When I decided to make my Halloween wreath, I had no idea that I'd spend days searching the webz and the stores looking for a black wreath (not decorated) and still go home each time with nothing. I finally bought a regular Christmas wreath at Hobby Lobby and used spray paint to make it black.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
As I posted before back in <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/happy-october.html">this post</a>, this was the early stage of creating my wreath:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg41tInHY72dAv6L3l1EW2u1SVUIqP6s9eqNafeeDImrgjwERx3ZpG8iIBkSWAV1W6GZJiUa4SaKu__sYCtvRnaVznP4ctnLvSoQF0FDN1jb2JMOobAEtVEMYzPsOQALtQVXyU-dJvc4Hhyphenhyphen/s1600/WreathWM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg41tInHY72dAv6L3l1EW2u1SVUIqP6s9eqNafeeDImrgjwERx3ZpG8iIBkSWAV1W6GZJiUa4SaKu__sYCtvRnaVznP4ctnLvSoQF0FDN1jb2JMOobAEtVEMYzPsOQALtQVXyU-dJvc4Hhyphenhyphen/s1600/WreathWM.jpg" height="345" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The photo on the left was right after I realized that I didn't take a 'before' photo. Whoops. Better late than never, right? The photo on the right was during the many light coats of spray paint. It was hot and muggy during those days and spray paint prefers less warmth and less humidity to dry properly. Plus, if I had used thick coats, I would have run the risk of the branches and needles sticking together. It was slow going, a little bit of paint a day.<br />
<br />
I had to keep rearranging the branches to make sure all of the green was covered and avoid gaps. FINALLY it was black enough to bring it in to decorate it.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was right before I got down to business:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Tpz_-1EPtZ0wfufP-xRmS1j4YIRCitKsPyiULwV8mjyF1xNl7OXiRVWOfgD63r9KX4ofo8JJx8bwHM0Gu-l1JtAWISqaTwnCarmAKjYRCkt0nqz6zDrIurzzQQJ0nmZxqE-PMQiiE3XV/s1600/PaintedWreathWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2Tpz_-1EPtZ0wfufP-xRmS1j4YIRCitKsPyiULwV8mjyF1xNl7OXiRVWOfgD63r9KX4ofo8JJx8bwHM0Gu-l1JtAWISqaTwnCarmAKjYRCkt0nqz6zDrIurzzQQJ0nmZxqE-PMQiiE3XV/s1600/PaintedWreathWM.JPG" height="400" width="395" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I had ornaments from Hobby Lobby, small wood pumpkins that I had painted, and glitter ornaments found at Pier 1 waiting to go on the wreath. I also found a little bit of Halloween floral pieces at Hobby Lobby and Micheal's.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the final result:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
My husband and I really like the 'finger-like' floral pieces on the top, bottom, and on each side. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The ornaments from Pier 1 are around the inside (clockwise from the top: a spider carrying Candy Corn, a mummy, a witch that looks like she slammed into the wreath, Frankenstein's monster, and a dancing skeleton). The purple, orange, and green pumpkins were found at Micheal's and Jo-Ann, painted by me.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Tomorrow, I will post photos of the wreath hanging on our front door, along with our pumpkins on our front steps. The garland will be done soon, I hope. I have a lot of the same floral pieces and ornaments for it along with some giant ornaments, more painted wood pumpkins, and Halloween ribbon.</div>

I don't normally post on weekends but I did some nail art for this weekend since we are attending a few Fall festival type things. I tried a couple of things before I landed on a candy corn inspired water marble.<br />

Hi all! <br />
<br />
In my <a href="http://www.itsgottabeheresomewhere.com/2014/10/happy-october.html">last post</a>, I shared with you the makings of my Halloween wreath and a few of our front porch pumpkins. The rest of the pumpkins are coming along nicely and the wreath is actually done.<br />
<br />
Today, I have a few pics of the decor I found while perusing Hobby Lobby, Pier 1, and Jo-Ann. Since I've never really decorated for Halloween before, I had literally no Halloween decorations. Luckily, most of the stuff I found wasn't terribly expensive and can be used for years to come.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
First up, our table by the front door:<br />
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRIcgG3f5DRyckPBQWqcdwZTPuqd8qlVa2vVcFXMLSPxtYMRvxEiynYSQsEia-Ht-eaCpchURxeR51rOJtvxYG8yCUZccnaTRxpKyIz_pBl5IC8lMPey11MyBDRmPKDyD6MDKTcfy4CMJS/s1600/Front+tableWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRIcgG3f5DRyckPBQWqcdwZTPuqd8qlVa2vVcFXMLSPxtYMRvxEiynYSQsEia-Ht-eaCpchURxeR51rOJtvxYG8yCUZccnaTRxpKyIz_pBl5IC8lMPey11MyBDRmPKDyD6MDKTcfy4CMJS/s1600/Front+tableWM.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the fabric at Jo-Ann while my husband was looking for something to make the ghosts that he wants to hang from the tree in front of our house. I was standing there looking around and realized I was right in front of the Halloween fabrics. This one was buried behind 2 others but I saw it poking out. It's pretty enough in the photo above but it's what it looks like in person that made me grab the bolt and head straight to the counter.<br />
It's purple, but it shifts to blue when held a certain way... just like a duo-chrome nail polish. And in certain lights, the spiderwebs disappear.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Below is a video that I shot of it outside so that if the explanation above<br />
was confusing, the video would eliminate the need to imagine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dyg3JhRkVTJsoMDo8vqxVXuSqo_xe7ZF6IjwQMkjmEBeIplrTud-vpZLMlvw_PRMz9wDXnwbV3qHuSDDKGiHg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
On the table are these guys:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-ZdZoYLJmxnKXEQh_RnHdKsajqLxdB73hI4Q4peyWzky8dOA_uAbWOBaQjDXwCFONQ1OcafGXJeNoagL5-QAbAji5SDbINZcgm0NLqM5uzEaeDb5lWPsdoanpcJoBBSIlRCSAlTOAV-g/s1600/CharacterTotemWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX-ZdZoYLJmxnKXEQh_RnHdKsajqLxdB73hI4Q4peyWzky8dOA_uAbWOBaQjDXwCFONQ1OcafGXJeNoagL5-QAbAji5SDbINZcgm0NLqM5uzEaeDb5lWPsdoanpcJoBBSIlRCSAlTOAV-g/s1600/CharacterTotemWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I found them on Pier 1's website and went searching for them in the closest store to me. Next to the totem, you can see a little glass of what looks like gems. I found the plastic gems at Hobby Lobby and had the idea to put them on an LED light in a glass container. <i>(I also found some for Thanksgiving/Fall... pumpkins and acorns. You'll see them on the blog next month.)</i></div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
These glass pumpkins are also from Pier 1:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
On the left in the photo above, you can see the other glass container that I filled with glass pebbles. Below is a photo I shot of it later at night so you could see it lit up more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnL_qmpkY-n3evDPq_14qjl86vAItJFbsL8dygfzBxx3_8Vv5ljmgJ0mhRsL-Sx556lyT1Mjro3M9gENKicMxtmuSAqIyTYQ5DtHoeYs5krUBZK-oyPbfcUeS5cCtUIGdLXvSMkYU-HCMJ/s1600/GhostRocksWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnL_qmpkY-n3evDPq_14qjl86vAItJFbsL8dygfzBxx3_8Vv5ljmgJ0mhRsL-Sx556lyT1Mjro3M9gENKicMxtmuSAqIyTYQ5DtHoeYs5krUBZK-oyPbfcUeS5cCtUIGdLXvSMkYU-HCMJ/s1600/GhostRocksWM.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the pebble mixture, ghosts included, at Micheal's. I made sure to arrange them so that the kids could see the little ghost faces. I really like the end result and it was pretty inexpensive.<br />
<br />
Besides finding the fabric at Jo-Ann, I found this cute little door hanger. It looks like a bushel of grapes, yes, but the orange ones are cut to look like Jack-o-lanterns and I loved it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3T7LfGZmh0tDBX8E51_ZOl8PmM6g8IosOcrHen5d-uZcpt6jkAD2A_4XHRi_5XpVo2InsqpiCElTzzVckA0qQA5hjRGXJ6dbzeLC88j0hfpP7ZZvT2ymdnXZwSXnwX6WcayNiz2o43Z74/s1600/DoorHangerWM.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3T7LfGZmh0tDBX8E51_ZOl8PmM6g8IosOcrHen5d-uZcpt6jkAD2A_4XHRi_5XpVo2InsqpiCElTzzVckA0qQA5hjRGXJ6dbzeLC88j0hfpP7ZZvT2ymdnXZwSXnwX6WcayNiz2o43Z74/s1600/DoorHangerWM.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
That's it for today! I'll have another post Monday with photos of my wreath and hopefully the garland (if I can get it painted and decorated by then).<br />
<br />
Also, we are heading to a few fall festivals this weekend so hopefully I'll have some photos of hayrides, pumpkins, and corn mazes.<br />
<br />
<br />
<i>Have a great weekend!</i><br />
<br />
